Hair...
I always suggest that you coordinate this with the bride – if she is wearing hers up, then do yours down. I have often found that brides like their BMs to have a no-fuss hair do, plain as possible, as they are usually the ones with the fancy up dos. If this is the case, and you opt for a down do..PLEASE don’t spend thousands so some Redken finalist can blow dry your hair as puffy as possible, only for you to go home, re-wash and straiten it yourself.
So now comes the time we have all been waiting for, what will we be wearing!!!! I must say I have been very lucky with the experiences I have had with my lovely bride-friends, they have all made their BMs a very big part of the planning process in terms of what we will be wearing on the day. Again, I urge you to remember that it is her day. If you have a bride who is adamant that you will be wearing a pea-green halter neck with a pink empire line, then roll with it. It’s her special day….If, however, you are lucky enough to have a say, then here are a few tips:
The upcoming wedding I am apart of will include four BMs, all with very manageable hair. The lovely bride is having an up style and so we will be having ours down. She had booked a hair appointment for us which totalled almost R3000. WHAT??? For a blow dry??? You have got to be kidding me…. My suggestion to her was
Right, ok if one of us was a total frizz ball and urgently needed a good iron-out then fine, spend a bit of cash, but in this case that money can be more wisely spent – on booze for example ;-)
Therefore, if the BMs have manageable hair, get one of your friends to do the blow dry (powerful, salon-style hairdryer always gets best results) and straiten (GHD!!!) the BM’s hair for them. Another really effective way is to do a simple blow dry then use a curling tong (£25 at any boots shop, doesn’t need to be the fanciest brand) to create soft pretty curls Like LC and olivia ;-)
So to keep you in the loop for the plans of the upcoming weding, the four BMs will be having their hair loose and strait or soft curls, depending on length with a cute head band (very blair waldorf - esqu dont you think). I just love them, they go so nicely with the wedding theme and picked them up at H&M for only £7.99 (if memory serves me correctly), bargain, and even better that they cant be bought in SA!
