My opinion when it comes to make up is ALWAYS less is more, within reason of course. This is a very important chapter and i am going to outline some key objectives that MUST be adhered to...
- Always suggest that the make up is done professionally. take the money you saved from the hair appointment and hire a make up artist. Allowing the girls to do it themselves is NOT a good idea.
- make a decision as to what direction you want for the make up and what you want to achieve - ie smokey eyes and soft lips, or very natural etc. Google some pictures of make up examples you like and take them with to brief the make up artist. I must admit I have been shoked at so many girls' inability to do their own make up. i have always been quite bold with my choices and very explorative, probably because i started wearing make up quite young, but come on girls we all know what looks good an what doesnt. I am sure your fellow BMs will agree that they feel safer leaving this up to the pros!
- DEMAND that your bride has a make up trial followed by a test photograph shoot!!! It is amazing what a flash can do to the tone of some concealers, so have a few practice shots with a good quality camera after her trial. the tan she spent weeks cultivating will mean nothing when her face looks like casper in the wedding album - heartbreaking!!!
- Suggest that the BMs bring some touch up make up of their own. Sorry to break it to you girls, but its not just the photographer that will demand snaps of you alllll night, so will the rest of your guests. Cool it on the bronzer though, no matter how many glasses/bottles of champers you have had, NO one needs such brown cheeks (im speaking from experience here).
- Lashes always make such a difference and these days you can get gorgeous fake ones for relatively cheap. Again, these should be applied by a professional to avoid looking like a point road hooker. you can also get them
